    Introduction

    Extensive experience in pursuing claims for catastrophic injury caused by accident or medical negligence and recovering multi-million pound awards.

     

    The firm specialises in undertaking claims that involve serious injury through accidents or as a result of medical negligence. We also undertake individual cases or group actions that are unusual or have difficult or novel legal issues which, superficially, appear to provide strong defences to the prospective defendant.

    Mark McGhee who leads the team, fiercely advocates for and on behalf of his clients most of whom have been injured by the State. He pursues cases within Tribunals and the High Court. He is also a regular speaker at seminars providing training to other lawyers, doctors, charity officers. The practice’s extensive experience includes:

    • Class actions against the State on behalf of injured servicemen and other significant events such as Hillsborough, Paddington and the London July 2009 bombing

    Actions regarding novel types of injury

    Mark co-ordinated the Military Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Group Action which involved claims brought by over 2,000 traumatised ex-servicemen who served in a variety of conflicts including, Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Iraq and the Falklands.

     

    Represented Daniel Martin his War Pensions Tribunal claim resulting in the Ministry of Defence acknowledging the existence of “Gulf War Syndrome”

    Catastrophic personal injury arising from accidents or medical negligence

    A variety of complex personal injury and clinical negligence claims have been successfully pursued resulting in substantial settlements, some of which have exceeded a £1Million.

    Claims for sexual, physical and verbal abuse

    Claims have been successfully pursued, often on behalf of those who lack capacity, for a variety of types of abuse that these victims have suffered from the actions of their “carers”.

     

    Acted for the claimant in the case of Rowlands v The Priory Group 14th January 2016 where a record award of exemplary damages was awarded to the claimant who lacked capacity.

    Group Actions
